Don’t let the truth get in the way. Avec sept disques en quatorze ans, c’est la fête au Villagers. Le farfadet irlandais Conor J. O’Brien nous propose ses multiples visages avec You Lucky One. Dans ses Antimémoires, André Malraux écrivait, « Le monde de l’art n’est pas celui de l’immortalité, c’est celui de la métamorphose. » Villagers construit ainsi une oeuvre solide et Conor précise, « c’est probablement l’album le plus vulnérable que j’ai réalisé. J’ai joué et enregistré le tout dans mon appartement, et seulement vers la fin du processus, j’ai invité des gens » comme la légende irlandaise Dónal Lunny joueur de bouzouki (Planxty, The Bothy Band] et précieux producteur (Elvis Costello, Rod Stewart, Sinéad O’Connor, The Waterboys) ou encore le multi-instrumentiste américain Peter Broderick. That Golden Time est un monument de mélodies sereines, d’arrangements apaisants, de beauté consolatrice.

Villagers sera en concert le 3 juin à La Maroquinerie, son nouvel album, That Golden Time sort le 10 mai chez Domino Record.
